The name of the village of Vintl has celtic origins. It comes from the root “"Vindos-Jalos” and “Vindoialos” that mean
“wind-field” or “a large, clean and beautiful field”. There are other interpretations like “vinetulum” (little wine-yard).
Another thesis regards the church-patron of the old church, St. Urban, and a historian derived the name of our village from “Findel” (a foundling). Although Vintl is situated on this side of the castle of Mühlbach it belongs to the district of Brixen. The 110 km² zone clasps the villages of Niedervintl, Weitental, Pfunders and Obervintl. The agriculture has characterized the is zone until the sixties. Afterwards several industries and trade-business have lead to an economic upswing. |

Nevertheless is the zone has maintained his traditional untouched nature and his rural character, particularly the
Pfunderer-valley with his mountains and the Eidechs-peak/Hegedex (2.738 m) – the “home-mountain” of Vintl.
High quality of life, hospitality and environmental conservation are important in our region. This makes form the Vintl/Pfunderer-valley a popular place for connoisseurs and people close to nature to spend a relaxing holiday. It will help you to turn your holiday into an unforgettable adventure. |
