| The main locality Latsch (639 m), tucked away in the apple garden of South Tyrol. The union of nature and the man-made landscape is at the same time fantastic and has a fascinating charm and the hard work of the farming populace has transformed the valley bottom into model orchards. And time and time again you encounter the impressive contrast of Sonnen- and Nörderberg with the two cable cars and innumerable hiking and walking paths. The main town, Latsch, counts 2480 inhabitants today and has also acquired a good reputation with sportsmen due to its extensive sports area. | ||
| The Martell Valley, nestled in Stilfserjoch National Park, is one of the most beautiful side valleys of the Vinschgau Valley. It extends from 950 m up to the Cevedale glacier at a height of 3769 m. Here you will find exactly what you need in order to recuperate, to gather energy for everyday life: Quiet, pure, healthy mountain air and untouched nature with a unique fauna and flora. The hiking paradise awaits you with several hiking paths at the bottom of the valley, panorama hiking paths in the high mountains with an intoxicating view of the glacier world of the Ortler group. The Martell valley with its growing areas at heights of 900 to 1,800 m is Europe’s continuous strawberry growing area and also offers ideal climatic conditions for the cultivation of various types of berries and vegetables. Goldrain... according to popular tradition this melodious name is reminiscent of the “gold mines” beneath the ruins of the Laggar mountain lodge. In reality perhaps only lead sulphide was found there. The holiday resort Goldrain (650 m) – with its 910 inhabitants – is idyllically nestled against the Sonnenberg, which enchants through its unique vegetation and is an ideal starting point for panorama and mountain hikes. The holiday destination Morter (729 m) with its 750 inhabitants is the gateway to the entrance to Stilfserjoch National Park. Here you encounter impressive evidence of a changing past. Historical buildings and work of art from the early Middle Ages up to the Renaissance (Mountain chapel St. Stephan, Vigilius church), as well as the quiet and charming landscape, invite you to go on meditative walks |
