Kaltern is situated on a traditional wine district. The romans already grew here wine-yards. Today over 2500 hectare wine yards surround the Lake Kaltern. High quality wines are pressed in the small and big winery of this surrounding. Some are open for visitors to be introduced in the world of wines by sightseeing and special events. |

The southern flair even pulls through the menus. Together with the local cookery you find even dishes from the Italian cuisine. Besides trattorias and tavern are several restaurants with gourmet awards. In country guesthouse and mountain cabin the dishes are prepared with own grown ingredients.
An own architectural style influenced by the Italian Renaissance has emerged. 500 years ago Venetian and Tuscan master builder formed the 'Upper Etsch Architecture'. |
