Castles, palaces and stately homes dominate the landscape around Eppan. More than one hundred castles, palaces and stately homes can be found in its vicinity. Some of them are wonderful hotels and restaurants. Moreover, Eppan is one of the main localities along the new “Südtiroler Weinstrasse” (South Tyrolean wine street), leading from Sigmundskron close to Bolzano via Girlan to St. Michael/Eppan and on via Kaltern, Tramn, Kurtatsch, Kurtinig, Magreid to Salurn.The “Eppaner Burgenritt” (a “castle ride”) at Pentecost, the wine culture weeks in the village of St. Pauls, the cellar festival in Girlan are only some of the highlights during the year. The two Montiggler lakes – the small and the large one – offer a refreshing change during summer time. They are located in a very quiet woodland and are one of the numerous attractions of Eppan. This is the place for swimming (the water has up to 29°C), rowing, fishing, hiking, biking, jogging, nordic walking, skating and curling in winter. The “Frühlingstal” (the blooming valley), too, is very well know for being a wonderful valley full of flowers and blossoms in February and March. |

| St Pauls Is located in the municipality of Eppan at the “Südtiroler Weinstrasse” (South Tyrolean wine street). Only few minutes from Bolzano, the provincial capital, this picturesque village is located below the Gantkofel. Surrounded by luscious vineyards and fruit orchards, St. Pauls has conserved the charm of a typical historical wine village. Fruit, wine, crafts and of course tourism are the basis of the local economy. The “Dom auf dem Lande” in St. Pauls is a very beautiful church very worthwhile to visit. |
